I think he means "so that Contrary, like Defiant or Competitive, is not activated by self-inflicted stat drops". :V That was my thinking too, such that it still discourages the use of stat-dropping moves on the opponent's part but doesn't allow the Contrary Pokémon to abuse it by spamming Leaf... -

I've no idea quite what, but perhaps something could be added to Trick Room's flavour to justify preventing it from being used in immediate or rapid succession. Maybe some timey-wimey bollocks like one has to wait the full duration of another Trick Room for the dimensions to stabilise before it... -

I was under the impression that changing a move's base power scaled its base energy cost with it. Thus a boosted Venoshock would cost 13/2 + 2 = 8%, or 7% with STAB. That's how I've handled similar moves in the past, anyway. -

So yeah, is this tactic a thing? If so, I really feel there should be some way to make it... not objectively superior to just attacking with regular accuracy, because as I mentioned in the last quote there's absolutely no disincentive to just tack some extra free accuracy to every attack you... -

Maybe Truant could involve reduced priority or speed rather than outright preventing any action whatsoever. That way you're not losing a whole action just to get a measly 4% extra damage over the other two. -

But we can do better! Base damage 6%. With opponent holding a berry, doubles to 12%. 13% with STAB. 20% if it crits. 22% with Silver Powder. Ignoring the berry bonus for the last two actions, that's 15% with STAB, crit and Silver Powder. All told, that's a grand total (technical) potential... -

You can change names yourself via the Database. "Your Pokémon" → click the Pokémon whose name you want to change → "edit ______".
